“Catching the Moment”

“Catching the moment as it happens” is Stacy’s signature style of expressive, natural portraits of babies and children.
Her honest and tender photos of children are not conventional, posed portraits. From a tiny fist grasping a new father’s outstretched hand, to a fleeting yet familiar expression on a daughter’s thoughtful face, her portraits capture the charm and individual spirit of children.
“I like good, strong close-ups,” she said, “And I just let the kids do what they’re doing. I let them be themselves."
She never imagined the role photography would play in her life. When she received her first quality camera as a teen, she began shooting unique angles of the natural world around her.
Photos of a friend’s little boy led to this rewarding craft of child photography. An unconventional photo of his mischievous face peering out from behind a tree captured his winsome personality. Soon others requested portraits of their own children. Stacy cherishes these opportunities she has with families.
“You can always see it in a new mommy’s eyes – that tender love,” she said. “They’re just in awe.” That honesty and openness is what she captures in her sensitive photos of children.“I watch for that fleeting second when they are truly themselves,” she said. “When they don’t care that I’m there. I just wait, and watch for them to be them.”
